You are part of a school and have to report the results of standardized test scores. Which measure of central tendency would you use? Assume that you dont know how your students will perform; consider the general effects of outliers on the three measures of central tendency. Research and summarize the general effects that outliers have on each of the measures of central tendency. Then using some real values provide an example of how the three measures of central tendency vary due to outlier effects. Recently two new transfer students joined your school and both have received extremely high scores on the test. Which measure of central tendency would you use and why? Explain which measure you would use in this situation by using actual numbers to illustrate your point. Calculate all three measures of central tendency and depict what happens before and after the addition of the two transfer students. Justify your answers with appropriate reasoning and research from your textbook and course readings. Start reviewing and responding to at least two of your classmates as early in the week as possible. You can ask technical questions or respond generally to the overall experience. Be honest clear and concise. Always use constructive language even in criticism to work toward the goal of positive progress. Using questions and seeking clarifications are good ways to make your reviews substantive!

You are an employment counselor that helps people find and keep jobs. Your client Callie has been working with you for almost six months. In the last few months she has found a job and is now checking in with you at a follow-up appointment. Read the following statements and write a response to each that you feel would be appropriate for you Callies employment counselor to say. Remember to use basic counseling skills and convey genuineness. At work I just got my first performance evaluation and I was very disappointed. My supervisor rated me as unsatisfactory on punctuality. And since Im still a probationary employee that rating could cost me my job. In the entire evaluation period I was only late for work one time and that was an emergency. My mother called that morning to talk about some trouble my brother was in. And I ended up talking to him as well so I didnt get off the phone until the time I usually leave for work. I called to let my supervisor know what had happened and that I wouldnt be on time. And when I got to work there was no talk about me being late so I thought there was no problem. But I guess now Ive found out that family emergencies dont count as legitimate reasons for being delayed. I dont know if its realistic for me to continue working there. Things are bound to come up so that Ill probably be late other times. After all I do have a life outside of work. But my supervisor doesnt seem to recognize that. I think its unfair to penalize me for being human. And I think the way it was done was really underhanded. I know Im not perfect. Like everybody else I make mistakes. But when I do something wrong and dont know it I deserve to be told right then. A couple of months later I dont want to be blind-sided with a negative write-up of my behavior. I take pride in my work and I try to do a good job. And Im definitelynotaccustomed to receiving documents that term my efforts unsatisfactory. Getting written up for unsatisfactory performance certainly isnt something I want to go through again. But Im not quite sure what to expect if I stay with this job. I dont know if my punctuality really was unsatisfactory or if maybe giving new employees an unsatisfactory rating on something is a standard practice that allows the organization to get rid of a probationary person they dont want to keep. I guess its possible Im reacting too strongly. Maybe I need to find out more about how performance ratings are used in the organization. I do like working there and I would prefer to stay if I could believe that my boss will be fairly evaluating my efforts. Upon completion of the responses write a 1-2-page paper that explains the reasons you chose the responses you wrote. Include details related to using empathy active listening skills and nonverbal counseling skills.

Yet again another great post. It is of paramount importance that researchers and scholars not only measure/understand statistical significance but also the practical significance of a relationship or finding as well (Peeters 2016). According to Gravetter and Forzano practical significance is often found using metrics pertaining to effect size. Besides Cohens D (which the authors were highly fond of) what other measurements of effect size do you know of?
